The Nathaniel Russell House is a notable house at 51 Meeting Street in Charleston, South Carolina, United States.Built by slave broker and affluent vendor Nathaniel Russell in 1808, it is perceived as one of America's most significant Neoclassical houses. It was assigned a National Historic Landmark in 1973.
Russell dispatched an obscure draftsman to assemble an enormous townhome in the then famous Federal-style. Sited on an enormous city parcel in downtown Charleston, the rectangular house has an even façade, with an anticipating four-sided narrows that ascents the full three-accounts of the focal square of the house. Built of Carolina dim block, the three straight passageway front underscores stature as opposed to width with the primary living territories on the second and third-stories. The house is 9,600 square feet with 6,000 square feet of living territory.
